Supplication: Petition; an Expression of Need.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, SUPPLICATIONS, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. (1 Timothy 2:1)

is the feminine form of the adjective hiketerios, denoting "of a suppliant," and used as a noun, formerly "an olive branch" carried by a suppliant (hiketes), then later, "a supplication," used with No. 1 in Hbr 5:7. In the Sept., Job 40:22 (Eng. Vers. Job 41:3).
