akin to temno, "to cut" [Eng., "(ana)tomy," etc.], is used metaphorically in the comparative degree, tomoteros, in Hbr 4:12, of the Word of God.

signifies "abruptly, curtly," lit., "in a manner that cuts" (apo, "from," temno, "to cut," hence "sharply, severely," 2Cr 13:10, RV, "(that I may not... deal) sharply," AV, "(use) sharpness;" the pronoun "you" is to be understood, i.e., "that I may not use (or deal with)... sharply;" Tts 1:13, of rebuking.
