Honorable, without Honor:
lit., "in honor" (en, "in," time, "honor:" see HONOR, A, No. 1), is used of the centurion's servant in Luk 7:2, "dear" (RV marg., "precious... or honorable"); of self-sacrificing servants of the Lord, said of Epaphroditus, Phl 2:29, RV "(hold such) in honor" (AV, "in reputation;" marg., "honor such"); of Christ, as a precious stone, 1Pe 2:4, 6 (RV marg., "honorable"). The comparative degree, entimoteros, is used (in the best mss.) of degrees of honor attached to persons invited to a feast, a marriage feast, Luk 14:8, "a more honorable man."
