1Strong's Number: g3173Greek: megas

Greatest:

for which see GREAT, No. 1, is translated "the greatest," in Act 8:10; Hbr 8:11. The whole phrase, lit., "from small to great," is equivalent to the Eng. idiom "one and all." It is used in the Sept., e.g., in 1Sa 5:9: "God smote the people of Gath from the least to the greatest," ("both small and great"). So 1Sa 30:19; 2Ch 34:30, etc.
See GREAT.

2Strong's Number: g3185Greek: meizon

Greatest:

the comparative of No. 1, is sometimes translated "greatest;" besides the two cases given under GREATER, No. 1, where the RV corrects the AV, "greatest" to "greater" (Mat 13:32; Luk 22:26), the RV itself has "greatest" for this comparative in the following, and relegates "greater" to the margin, Mat 18:1, 4; 23:11; Mar 9:34; Luk 9:46; 22:24.
See GREATER, MORE.
