Already:
is always used of time in the NT and means "now, at (or by) this time," sometimes in the sense of "already," i.e., without mentioning or insisting upon anything further, e.g., 1Ti 5:15. In 1Cr 4:8; 1Jo 2:8, the RV corrects the AV "now," and, in 2Ti 4:6, the AV, "now ready to be," by the rendering "already."
See also Jhn 9:27 (AV, "already," RV, "even now") and 1Cr 6:7 (AV, "now," RV, "already").
Notes:
(1) Phthano, "to anticipate, be beforehand with," signifies "to attain already," in Phl 3:16.
See ATTAIN, COME, PRECEDE.
(2) Proamartano, "to sin before, or heretofore," is translated "have sinned already" in 2Cr 12:21, AV; both versions have "heretofore" in 2Cr 13:2.
