ヘブル語の「ツァラアト」は、広範囲の皮膚病を指し、適切な日本語に訳すのが難しい言葉です。伝統的には、今で言う「ハンセン病」と同一視されてきましたが、これは正しくありません。新共同訳聖書は、この疾患を「重い皮膚病」と訳しています。
