(a) in answer to a question, Mat 9:28; 11:9; 13:51; 17:25; 21:16; Luk 7:26; Jhn 11:27; 21:15, 16; Act 5:8; 22:27; Rom 3:29;

(b) in assent to an assertion, Mat 15:27, RV (AV, "truth"); Mar 7:28; Rev 14:13; 16:7, RV (AV, "even so");

(c) in confirmation of an assertion, Mat 11:26; Luk 10:21, RV (AV, "even so"); Luk 11:51, RV (AV, "verily"); Luk 12:5; Phl 4:3 (in the best texts); Phm 1:20;

(d) in solemn asseveration, Rev 1:7 (AV and RV, "even so"); Rev 22:20, RV (AV, "surely");

(e) in repetition for emphasis, Mat 5:37; 2Cr 1:17; Jam 5:12;

"and, even," is rendered "yea," e.g., Luk 2:35; Jhn 16:32; 1Cr 2:10; 2Cr 8:3; in Act 7:43, AV (RV, "and").

in some texts menounge, i.e., men-oun-ge, "yea rather," occurs, e.g., in Luk 11:28; in Rom 10:18, "yea (AV, yes) verily;" in Phl 3:8, RV, "yea verily" (AV, "yea doubtless").

Notes:

(1) In 1Cr 15:15 the RV translates kai by "and" (AV, "yea").

(2) In Luk 24:22 the RV translates alla kai "moreover" (AV, "yea... and").

(3) In 1Cr 16:6, AV, e kai, "or even" (RV), is translated "yea, and."

(4) In 2Cr 5:16, AV, the phrase ei kai (some texts have ei de kai) is translated "yea, though" (RV, "even though").

(5) In Phl 2:8, RV, the particle de, "but," is translated "yea" (AV, "even").
