Well (Do), Well-Doing:

"to do good" (agathos, "good," poieo, "to do"), is used

(a) of such activity in general, 1Pe 2:15, "well-doing;" 1Pe 2:20, "do well;" 1Pe 3:6, 17; 3Jo 1:11, "doeth good;"

(b) of "acting for another's benefit," Mar 3:4; Luk 6:9, 33, 35.

Well (Do), Well-Doing:

"to do well, excellently, act honorably" (kalos, "good," poieo, "to do"), occurs in 2Th 3:13. The two parts of the word occur separately in Rom 7:21; 2Cr 13:7; Gal 6:9; Jam 4:17.

Notes:

(1) The distinction between Nos. 1 and 2 follows that between agathos and kalos (see GOOD).

(2) In Jhn 11:12, AV, sozo (Passive Voice, "to be saved"), is rendered "he shall do well" (RV, "he will recover").

"well-doing" (akin to A, No. 1), occurs in 1Pe 4:19.

Well (Do), Well-Doing:

"doing good, beneficent," is translated "them that do well" in 1Pe 2:14, lit., "well-doing (ones)."
