Between:

In addition to the prepositions en and pros (see †, p. 9), the following have this meaning:

In the following pages † indicates that the word referred to (preposition, conjunction, or particle) is not dealt with in this volume.

Between:

lit., "up to the middle of," i.e., among, or in the midst of, hence, between, is used in 1Cr 6:5, of those in the church able to decide between brother and brother, instead of their going to law with one another in the world's courts.

Between:

"in the midst, or between" (from meta, and xun, i.e., sun, "with"), is used as a preposition,

(a) of mutual relation, Mat 18:15; Act 15:9; Rom 2:15, RV, "one with another," lit., "between one another," for AV, "the meanwhile;"

(b) of place, Mat 23:35; Luk 11:51; 16:26; Act 12:6;

(c) of time, "meanwhile," Jhn 4:31. In Act 13:42, the AV marg. has "in the week between," the literal rendering.

Note: The phrase ek meta (ek, "out of," meta, "with") is translated "between... and" in the AV of Jhn 3:25 (RV, "on the part of... with").
